“Someday I’ll wish upon a star and wake up where the clouds are far behind me…where laughter falls like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that’s where you’ll find me…”
Yip Harburg
“Mama, am I a brother?”
“Yes, Julian, of course you’re a brother.”
“To Gabriel, Boo and Peanut?”
“To all three. You’re their big brother, even though they’re not here.”
“But where are they Mama? Up in Heaven?”
“Yes, Julian. They’re in Heaven.”
“And where is Heaven, exactly?”
“I’m not sure. No one actually knows where Heaven is, but most people like to believe that it’s up in the sky somewhere, maybe somewhere past the rainbow.”
Julian looked outside, his brows furrowed. “But, Mama…where is the rainbow?”
I paused, placing my hand over his. “It’s out there, Julian. I know it’s hard to see sometimes but…it must be there.”
